Seminar on Deer Resettlement

„Resposibly trapping, transportation and resettlement of deer“ was the major topic of the seminar organized by the South East State Forestry Enterprise in collaboration with New Thracian Gold in Strandza Mountain (Gramatikovo and Ropotamo) on 1-2 December.

More than 20 representatives of hunting reserves from all over the country took part in the seminar.  John Fletcher, Manager of Reediehill Deer Farm and former president of the Federation of European Deer Farmers Associations and и Julian Stoyel, Manager of Deer Park in Houghton Hall, Great Britain delivered lectures on three topics: Management of the catch live deer; Transportation of live deer and Anaesthetizing live deer.  On the second day, a demonstration on catching out eight red deer in the area of Ropotamo was organized. The animals were resettled in the Eastern Rhodopes.

The seminar enjoyed a huge interest and the participants were glad to discuss the European expertise in this field and to share experience of the Bulgarian hunting reserves.

NTG will keep working on the increase of the capacity  of the experts working on the deer resettlement.
