National Geographic – Bulgaria about the tarpans in Sbor

In its May issue, National Geographic - Bulgaria news magazine writes about the newly born tarpans in the region of Sbor, Krumovgrad Municipality.

The increase of the herd of the tarpans brought to the Eastern Rhodopes from the Netherlands in September 2011 within New Thracian Gold project (NTG) is described by the news magazine as "a success of the reintroduction of the breed".

The expert on biodiversity in the project Stefan Avramov is quoted with his opinion that "existing reconstructions of the Tarpan could play the same ecological role as he has played thousands of years ago" - to graze the wild vegetation to revive and maintain the ecosystems.

The article is illustrated with a photo of the first tarpans born in Bulgaria taken by the wildlife coordinator in NTG Hristo Hristov.
