The Vulture Center in Madzharovo opnes the new season
On the first spring day (22 March), The Vulture Center in the town of Madzharovo opens the new tourist season with a renovated exhibition hall, a result of the financial support of New Thracian Gold and work of the most committed volunteers of BSPB.
The biodiversity of the Eastern Rhodopes, one of the richest in Europe is presented with new information panels, photos, drawings and graffiti. The new interactive exhibition will make you to feel like in the heart of the magnificent mature of this beautiful area of Bulgaria.

This year, on 5-6th of October we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the EuroBirdwatch. Уou can join our celebration at Nature Information and Conservation Center “Eastern Rhodopes” in Madzharovo.
The program includes:
- Lecture about the Migration flyways of the Egyptian vulture in Southern Turkey;
- Birdwatching around Madzharovo area;
- Lecture and introducing with the unique biodiversity of the Eastern Rhodopes;
- Quiz for children;
This activity is implemented under the project “Promoting the Nature Information and Conservation center in Madzharovo and increasing awareness of wildlife heritage in the Eastern Rhodopes” supported by New Thracian Gold project for the sustainable development of the Eastern Rhodopes.

International Vulture Awareness Day
This Saturday, the world is going to celebrate the International vulture awareness day. This year Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds/Birdlife Bulgaria will take part in the initiative giving opportunity for many people to get in touch with the exciting and fascinating world of vultures. On the 7th September at 10 o`clock Nature and Conservation center “Eastern Rhodopes” in Madzharovo will open its gates for all visitors. During the whole day breathtaking movies and interesting lectures about the life of vultures will be presented. With telescopes and binoculars everyone can observe these incredible creatures into the wild - flying over the spectacular cliffs in Arda valley. We have prepared surprises for the children – educational games, drawing contest and a lot of prizes.
The celebration is organised within the project “Promoting the Nature Information and Conservation Center in Madzharovo and increasing awareness of the wildlife heritage in the Eastern Rhodopes” with the support of “New Thracian Gold” project in collaboration with the project “The Return of the Neophron” (LIFE 10 NAT/BG/000152).

Celebration of Earth Day in Nature Center “Eastern Rhodopes” in Madzharovo
Every year on 22nd of April – the Earth Day - events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for the environmental protection. This is one of these days when we can take a break from the intensive life and have the opportunity to look into nature.
Therefore, on that day the team of Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds - within the project “Promoting the Nature Information and Conservation Center in Madzharovo and increasing awareness of the wildlife heritage in the Eastern Rhodopes” - invites you to the Nature Information and Conservation Center “Eastern Rhodopes” in Madzharovo town.
You will have the opportunity to learn more about the activities on biodiversity conservation on the richest of wildlife area in Bulgaria.
The program for the day includes:
- Drawing contest for children on the theme "Flying symbols of Eastern Rhodopes;
- Quiz for protected areas and rare species of plants and animals in the Eastern Rhodopes;
- Interactive educational games for students;
- Monitoring of vultures with scopes;
- Examining the interactive exhibition for the conservation of vultures in Bulgaria;
The initiative is supported by New Thracain Gold.

Coordinators Wilderness - Hristo Hristov and Tourism - Mihaela Kircheva will be present, also Desislava Kostadinova - archaeologist, Dimitar Simitchiev - NTG assistant, Marin Kurtev - BSPB nature conservation center in Madzharovo, Daniela Popova - Rhodopi NGO, representatives from the national association of rare breeds, etc.
