Green school - cleaning action

Purpose:

1. To stimulate the “team mind" of the youngsters

2. To sow and develop the “ecological culture” among the young people in the Eastern Rhodopi

3. To motivate them to respect and preserve the nature – explane why is so important to keep the nature alive, pure and untouched

4. To motivate the most active and inspired young people to be included in trainings for eco guides

5. To present the richness of the nature in the Eastern Rhodopi in an interesting, funny and amusing way (birdwatching, animals breeding, organic products, geology, fossils, botany, etc)

6. To support local authorities in the struggle against unadjusted dung-hills and unconscientious local people

PROGRAM:

05 June 2010 – Saturday

8,00 am – departure from the school “Otets Paisii”

Around 9,30 am – visit of Nature Conservation Centre – Madzharovo – lecture about the role of the centre for the conservation of the nature resources of Eastern Rhodopes, observation of birds of pray via professional binoculars.

Lunch in the centre

Afternoon – accomodation in the “Thracian house” in the village of Borislavtsi

Campaign for cleaning the village.

Dinner in the house in Borislavtsi – rewards for those that were most active

Overnight

06 June 2010 г – Sunday

Breakfast in the house

Campaign for marking and cleaning the eco and biking trail between the village of Gorno Pole and Madzharovo

lunch – picnic

late afternoon – visiting “The Wild Farm” – for the most active through the day – a horse ride

Dinner at “The Wild Farm” - how to grow up in the fields

Overnight

07 June 2010 г – Monday

Breakfast in the house

Campaign for cleaning the bed or Arda rivernear Madzharovo, lecture for the geological and mineral composition of the rocks along the river.

Lunch – picnic near the river

Late afternoon – for the most active – biking

Dinner at NCC

08 June 2010 г – Tuesday

Breakfast

Campaign for cleaning the short trails near the river

Lunch – picnic near the river or in NCC

Afternoon – free time

Late afternoon – for the most active throuhg the day – kayak trip on the river Arda

Dinner at Borislavtsi

09 June 2010 г – Wednesday

Breakfast

Visit of the magalit religios complex “Kromplex” near the village ot Dolni Glavanak

Afternoon – return in Kardzhali

This program is indicative and could undergo minor changes, but basically it will be a combination of exploring of the area, field training and getting known with the principles of nature protection and ecotourism.

For this purpose the NTG project provides:

• transport

• 4 nights accommodation
  

• 4 full boards (breakfast, lunch and dinner)

• all materials necessary for the campaigns

• attractive rewards for additional motivation

• lectures, entrance fees, equipment for observation

• insurance

Maximum number of participants – 14 students and 1 teacher.

The campaigns will be realized by a team of the participants from the Eco-club and their instructor, a representative fom the NCC Eastern Rhodopes, representative of the "New Trachian Gold“ project and volunteers from the region.

The whole event will be presented by the media, as well as by the "New Trachian Gold“ itself, with the idea of attracting the attention of the community and involving it into other similar campaigns in other regions of Eastern Rhodopes.
