Organic Production Has Increased By 75%

Organic production has increased by 75%, said the deputy Minister of Agriculture and Foods Svetlana Boyanova at the opening of the fair of organic producers, which took place in Sofia on 15 October, Darik radio reported quoting the release of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF). The celebration is part of the "BioMania 2011", organized with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Foods.

According to Boyanova the number of registered organic producers at the end of 2010 has reached 820, an increase of 75 percent compared to 2009, MAF will continue implementation of good European practices for government support in the sector of organic production, also declared the deputy minister of Agriculture and Food.

Deputy Minister Boyanova noted that the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union for the period 2014-2020 provides 25% of the budget to be allocated to agro ecology. During the celebration she urged farmers to move towards organic farming, and to cooperate.
