Environmental Festival In Kardzhali
Two films won Stork Nest Grand Prix at the International Environmental Festival "Green Wave - 21st Century" for films and TV programmes dedicated to ecology and environmental protection (16 – 18 September): Radioactive Wolves (Austria, 2010, ORF Natural History Unit, Klaus Feichtenberger), an examination of the impact of one of the world's worst environmental disasters on the entire ecosystem and All that Glitters (Czech Republic, 2010, CEE Bankwatch Network, Tomáš Kudrna), an in-depth analysis of the complex interaction between the natural environment, economic and social factors.
The event was organized for the sixth year by the European Environment Festival Foundation in partnership with Kardzhali Municipality. This year's edition of the festival included 74 productions of leading world and European media, independent producers and environmental organizations from 22 countries.
An international jury awarded the Stork Nest Grand Prix in several categories, including the Best Balkan Environmental Film.
A round table “Urbanization and Industry Pollution: Ecological decisions and New technologies” was in the Festival program with the participation of representatives of state and international institutions, scientists, experts, ecologists and business.
Trees were planted in the festival park Green Europe during the event. On the programme were also international environmental exhibitions, and a photo exhibition about the first Bulgarian participation in the Dakar Rally.
