NTG Day at the Bulgarian Embassy in the Netherlands

On 28 March 2014, an interesting NTG event was organised for a selection of invitees at the Bulgarian Embassy in The Hague.

After a five years period of hard work in the Eastern Rhodopes New Thracian Gold project approaches its finish line. In three short contributions Frank Zanderink, NTG team leader, Vladislav Popov, coordinator on organic farming and Johan Bekhuis, tourism and communication coordinator presented an overview of the project achievements.

Ambassador Nikola Kolev and Mariana Chavrakova, Head of the commercial and economic section of the Embassy, emphasized the growing socio-economic Bulgarian-Dutch relationship. The tourism segment in Bulgaria is growing rapidly and increasing numbers of tourists from Western Europe discover the natural beauty of the country and especially, of the Rhodopes. New Thracian Gold project contributed substantially in promoting the Eastern Rhodopes as a champions league destination for nature and wildlife tourism.

Margriet Schreuders representing the Netherlands Postcode Lottery, donor of NTG project, was very pleased to see the positive project results and the good relationship between the Dutch and Bulgarian project team members and the local population.
