The Swedish television films the large herbivores in the Eastern Rhodopes

A Swedish television team works on an episode of the weekly tv-show Mitt i naturen about the large herbivores in the Eastern Rhodopes. At he end of February, a crew of Mitt i naturen, the nature program of the most popular Swedish television channel SVT1, did a four-day footage on the wildlife of Boynik Planina protected area. One of the highlights were the tarpans, the wild horses reintroduced here in the autumn last year which already are adapting very well to the nature of the Eastern Rhodopes.
Apart from the tarpans, the Swedish journalists filmed also the local rare breeds of domestic animals, traditionally raised in Boynik Planina, and the European bison, red deer and fallow deer in the Studen Kladenets Reserve.
In May, the Mitt i naturen team plans to film the vultures during the spring splendour of the Rhodopes mountain. The episode on the Eastern Rhodopes is expected to be broadcasted in November/December 2014 and will be available (also to a Bulgarian audience) here http://www.svtplay.se/mitt-i-naturen (available 30 days after the episode had been broadcasted).
Sveriges Television (SVT) is the Swedish public service television company with the widest range of programming of all TV companies in Sweden. The program Mitt i naturen (roughly “In the Midst of Nature”) is broadcasted on Sweden’s biggest channel, SVT1. The channel receives the highest ranking by the Swedish audience. Every week, Mitt i nature is seen by an audience of 600 000 – 1 million viewers. (In total, Sweden has just over 9,4 million citizens). Being one of Scandinavia’s most popular TV-shows.I It reaches audiences not only in Sweden, but also in parts of our neighbouring countries Norway, Finland and Denmark.
