“Battle” Between Thracians and Romans in Perperikon
The 11th edition of International Festival "Perperikon 2011" ended on June 25 with a "battle" between Romans and Thracians in Perperikon.
The battle was a reconstruction of real historical events that happened in the first century. In the midst of the battle appeared a sign: Dionysus signaled Thracians and Romans to stop fighting. Thracians and Romans reached an agreement and participated in a guessing on the rock altar of Dionysus. According to ancient writers, Alexander the Great has received here the prophecy that he would conquer the world.
The Yulangelo formation sang orthodox chants and Arabesque team presented a ballet performance.
2011 edition of the "Perperikon" Festival (20-25 June) included several exhibitions and performances of some of the best Bulgarian theater troupes. Among the most interesting was the performance "Monologue With a Suitcase" of Gerasim Dishliev, a disciple of the famous French mime Marcel Marceau.
This year, the winner of "Golden Perperikon" is Simeon is Pashov, president of the largest construction company in Bulgaria Glavbolgarstroy, sponsor of the festival.
