Lecture on NTG in the Netherlands
On November 12th, the New Thracain Gold team leader Frank Zanderink delivered a lecture about the project in the Nature and Environment Center in Weert, The Netherlands. More than 50 people visited the lecture, some of them had already been in Bulgaria. All were
positively amazed by the rich culture an nature in the Eastern Rhodopes. The area is a hotspot in biodiversity in Europe, but not known in the Netherlands. Many people bought maps, guides and other promotional products of NTG. Some of them definitely will visit the area next year, Frank Zanderink is convinced.
New Thracian Gold (NTG) is a Bulgarian-Dutch project for a greener future of the Eastern Rhodopes. The main objective is to develop sustainable initiatives which promote and combine organic farming, nature restoration and ecotourism.
The five-year project started in 2009 and is financed by the Dutch Postcode Lottery, the biggest charity lottery in the Netherlands. Dutch and Bulgarian experts on ecotourism, sustainable development, biodiversity/wildlife, organic farming, PR/communication participate in the project. The team is supported by two Dutch expert organizations – ARK with expertise in nature restoration and Avalon, specialized in organic farming.
