Deadline of NTG Contest „Eastern Rhodopes – Taste the Wild Nature“ extended till 15 October

The deadline for submitting photos and travel stories for the NTG Contest  „Eastern Rhodopestaste the wild natureis extended with two weeks – until October 15th, 2013.

In 2013, New Thracian Gold (NTG) project organizes for the third time two contests „Eastern Rhodopestaste the wild nature: 1: for the most interesting travel story and 2: for the best photo. We’d like to see in your texts and photos a combination or one of the three NTG-elements: wilderness/nature, ecotourism or organic farming.

The size of The Best Eastern Rhodopes travel story is up to 6000 characters (excluding spaces) and the text has to be in Bulgarian. You have to illustrate it with at least three and up to five photos. The photos must have size of 1000 pixels on the long side. Every participant can participate only with one travel story.

In The Best Eastern Rhodopes photo competition, the maximum number of submitted images per photographer is 3, with size of 1000 pixels on the long side in format jpg. Please, include also information about the location of the photos.

The rewards for the winners are:

For travel story competition:

A weekend for two in the Nature Conservation Center “Eastern Rhodopes” known as Vulture Center in Madzharovo (1). The reward is provided by Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB). The winner will be selected by a jury of  5 member: NTG experts and a BSPB representative.

For photo competition:

A weekend for two in The Wild Farm in the village of Gorno Pope (Municipality of Madzharovo) provided by the owners of the guest house Betty and Nikolay Vassilievi (2). The winner will be selected by a jury of 5 NTG experts.

The second and third prizes in both contests are rewarded with organic products from the Eastern Rhodopes produced by organic farmers from the NTG network.

The deadline for submitting  the travel stories and the photos is October 15th, 2013. You are requested to send your entry to: NewThracianGold@gmail.com.  We'd like to ask the contestants to send also detailed contact information - name, address, e-mail address, phone.

The winners of the NTG 2013 contest will be published in the NTG website. The best photo(s) will be used in the NTG Calendar 2014 and other NTG promotional materials.

(1)     Nature Conservation CenterEastern Rhodopes is located in the stronghold of the vultures in Bulgaria: in the the town of Madzharovo in the Eastern Rhodopes. This is the place where you will see the endangered Griffon Vulture and Egyptian Vulture. The animators of the Center will share with you the secrets of the vultures and the rich biodiversity in the region. You will visit the meander of the Arda River, where you can enjoy the majesty of flying vultures above your heads. There are many more culture and nature experiences to participate in. Additional services such as bike tour on the quiet roads or kayaking along the river will help you undergoing the undisturbed life in the area and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The Center has a tavern and beds to spend the night.

(2)     "The Wild Farm" is a farm-B&B, specialized in organic agriculture. The owners Betty and Nikolay Vassiliev are livestock breeders and have about 450  Rhodope Short-Horn Cattle and Bulgarian Gray Cattle, sheep and also horses. The farm is certificated for organic production of veal, honey and vegetables. Their guesthouse offers various rooms in a relaxed countryside scenery. Besides the delicious organic food (Betty is a fantastic cook) the Vassiliev family offers their guests various entertainment activities- horseback riding, boating, picnics in the forest,  searching honey of wild bees, catching cattle with a lasso, monitoring vultures, which can sometimes be observed from the backyard of their house, tours for minerals  and gold mining, etc.
