NTG at the Festival “Culinary Heritage of Thrakia”

For a second consecutive year, New Thracian Gold participated in the Festival of traditional food, vocation and crafts “Culinary heritage of Thrakia” in Ivaylovgrad (6-7 September 2013).

On the first Festival day, Dr. Vladislav Popov, NTG coordinator on organic agriculture presented the “NTG Good Practices and Activities” during a Regional Seminar on Organic farming perspectives in the region. It was followed by a tasting of organic wines from the ‘Light Castle’ Winery and informal meetings with producers from the region.

On the second Festival day (September the 7th), the NTG project was presented at 2 pavilions and 4 stands. Organic and in-conversion producers from the NTG organic network presented their produce – grape/wine, apple and vinegar, bread and NTG branded organic tahini from sesame, cereals – limetz (einkorn) and flour, vinegar and honey, etc.

More than 2000 guests visited the Festival and the NTG stands. They tasted the NTG organic produce, bought organic produce and shared valuable experience with:

  • Mr. Petko Angelov and his wife on einkorn, local traditional dishes and rural tourism,

  • Mr Yonko Todorov, Dimcho Dimitrov on grape and wine production,

  • Mr. Georgi Koychev on fruit production,

  • Kasim Arabadzhiev on local dishes and the Topolovo demo-farm and Enver Yusein on organic honey, etc.

  • Mr. Krastio Deliivanov and the ‘Bioterra-Ivaylovgrad’ Ltd. on organic tahini

The NTG organic agriculture coordinator Dr. Vladislav Popov had extensive and useful talks with the NGO ‘Platform Agora’, the mayor of Ivaylovgrad Mrs. Diana Ovcharova, producers and traders from Greece and France.

Mr. Yonko Todorov and the NTG-organic group had very useful discussions with the NTG-supported Winery ‘Light Castle’ on future collaboration in the areas of local tourism and organic wine production.

The NTG team presented also a number of promotion materials published by the project such as the Culinary Guide of Eastern Rhodopes (the Recipe book), brochures on NTG guest-house owners and organic producers, articles in national agro-magazines, etc.

The project NTG was also warded with a Diploma for excellent presentation at the Festival.
