Ardino Will Host Festival of Turkish Folklore

The third Turkish Folklore festival in Bulgaria will be held in Ardino this July. The event coincides with the 90th anniversary of the town community and cultural centre Rodopska Iskra - Resmi Murad, the Мayor of the town and co-organiser of the event said. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Tolerantnost (Tolerance) organisation.

The Festival will be held again for the first time in 4 years.

Ardino is located in Kardzhali region in South Bulgaria, which is one of the most ethnically diverse regions in the country and serves as an example of ethnic and religious tolerance.

Such festivals are an excellent opportunity for cultural and folklore exchange between the participants from different regions in the country, the municipality officials hope.

Invitations were sent to 50 municipalities and at least 20 of them are expected to attend. There will be participants from Greece and Turkey as well. The festival has no formal entry contest, but all performers will be presented with a diploma and a souvenir by the organisers.
