Tarpan Days Program

On April 27, 29 and 29,  Bulgarian- Dutch New Thracian Gold project organises the first ever Tarpan days jointly with the Municipality Krumovgrad and the Bulgarian Society for Protection of Birds (BSPB) in the area of the village of Sbor.

See below the detailed program:

27 April 2012 - Friday

 

  • 13.30 - Opening ceremony
  • Presentation of New Thracian Gold - wildlife, organic farming and ecotourism
  • Presentation on the activities of BSPB in the area and the Life + project “Help for the Egyptian vulture”

 

  • 14.30 - Naming the new born Tarpan horses

 

  • 15.00 - Exhibition of rare local breeds - Rhodopean Shorthorn Cattle, Bulgarian Grey cattle, Karakachan sheep and Karakachan dogs

 

28 April 2012 – Saturday

 

  • 10.00 - Workshop for birdhouses

 

  • 12.00 - Lunch and music

 

  • 13.00 - Placing the birdhouses

 

  • 13.30 - Drawing contest for children

 

  • 15.00 - Repair the fence for the Tarpans

 

  • 16.30 - Announcing the winners of the drawing contest

 

29 April 2012 - Sunday

 

  • 10.00 - Tree planting ceremony

 

  • 12.00 - Lunch and music

 

  • 13.00 - Theater show Zelenodivo (Greenwild). The show is based on Dimitar Atanasov’s novel “Tarpans”. After the performance there is a meeting and discussion with director Nikolai Georgiev, choreographer Petya Yosifova, the theater artists and the novelist Dimitar Atanasov. The theater show had its premiere in Sofia on March 9.

 

  • 16.30 - Farewell to the horses, cows, birds and the village of Sbor

 

In each of the three days you can:

  • Observe the tarpans at close range
  • Observe birds
  • Join the workshop for making souvenirs of nature materials  
  • Get familiar with the traditional agriculture and farming
  • Taste and buy organic local foods
  • Experience the authentic local folklore
  • Enjoy the awakening nature
