Kardzhali and Haskovo, centers of two provinces of the Eastern Rhodopes, joined the fifth edition of Earth Hour on March 31, 2012 (Saturday) from 20:30 to 21:30. Zlatograd also participated in the initiative.

Earth Hour organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) was held for the third year in our country. 73 Bulgarian cities joined the initiative, WWFBulgaria announced.

This year, a record number of countries, cities and millions of people around the world celebrated Earth Hour. According to the preliminary data, 150 countries and territories and at least 6494 cities participated in the largest voluntary action for environmental protection. In 2011, 4000 cities from 125 countries took part in the Earth Hour.

The slogan of Earth Hour 2012 was “You and I act together”, trying to show that each of us is able to change the world with small but consistent actions.

NTG team hopes that more Eastern Rhodopean towns will join next Earth Hour edition.
