New Guest House in the Eastern Rhodopes Officially Opened
At an official ceremony on 26 April the new guest house of the "Wild Farm" was opened in the village of Gorno Pole, Municipality Madzharovo. Frank Zanderink, team leader of the Bulgarian-Dutch project New Thracian Gold (NTG) that supports the guesthouse and Milko Armutliev, Madzharovo Mayor cut the ribbon.
Deputy Ambassador of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Bulgaria, Riny Bus and Deputy Governor of Kardzhali, Assen Tyurdiev congratulated the owners of the Wild Farm, the family Blagovesta and Nikolai Vasilievi. The opening ceremony was attended by relatives, guests, family friends, local people, relations of the NTG network and journalists.. Till late in the night there was music, singing and dancing. The guests tasted Betty's specialty of veal cooked in a pumpkin and many local dishes.
In their new guesthouse Betty and Nikolay can accommodate guests in six rooms. The family combines various entrepreneurial interests. In addition to hospitality and tourism the Wild Farm is specialised in organic farming. Currently, they breed approximately 450 Rodopi Shorthorn cattle and Bulgarian Grey cattle, sheep and horses. Their farm has an organic farming certification for the veal, honey and vegetables from their garden and also for the pastures where the animals graze.
Besides delicious organic and local food Vassilievi's family offers numerous activities - horseback riding, boating, picnics in the forest, searching for honey from wild bees, catching a wild cattle with a lasso, monitoring vultures, which can be seen from their backyard...
Vasiliev's family is very active in all three components of the project New Thracian Gold: they develop ecotourism, produce organic products and grow in a natural way cattle of local breeds.
