The New Thracian Gold Project is supporting economic growth and welfare in the Eastern Rhodopes Mountains by developing activities which combine organic farming, nature conservation and tourism. This project is carried out by the Dutch nature conservation organisations Ark and Avalon and financially supported by the Dutch Post-code Lottery in the period of 2009- 2014.
On 13 November, THE TRANSRHODOPI,– the latest tourist map to the Rhodopes, was launched in "Stenata" shop in Sofia. Read more The Trans Rhodope long distance biking route, which is initiated and produced by the New Thracian Gold (NTG), was presented and promoted during the Days of the Challenges, an autumn festival of responsible tourism, nature and healthy living (3-5 December) and during the Bansko Film Fest in the town of Bansko (Southwestern Bulgaria). „Responsibly trapping, transportation and resettlement of deer“ was the major topic of the seminar organized by the South East State Forestry Enterprise in collaboration with New Thracian Gold in Strandza Mountain (Gramatikovo and Ropotamo) on 1-2 December. On the second day, a demonstration on catching out eight red deer in the area of Ropotamo was organized. The animals wеre resettled in the Eastern Rhodopes. Read more
Two European bison – the youngest of five - in the Studen Kladenets Reserve - died after a very short illness and despite the intensive veterinarian care provided by the NTG team. Read more
The NTG organic farming coordinator, Vladislav Popov, was the keynote speaker at the seminar “The herbs as an alternative for the tobacco growing”, which took place on November 27 in the village of Stambolovo, the Eastern Rhodopes. Read more
On 23 November, BSPB teams counted 154 Griffon vultures in the Eastern Rhodopes, as Sanie Myumyun, one of the Society members, reported to the NTG website. The survey in the Eastern Rhodopes was supported by New Thracian Gold and ARK Foundation. Read more
On 19 November, the annual meeting of the focus groups of New Thracian Gold took place in the town of Kardzhali. The achievements in the outgoing year and future plans were in the focus of the discussions. Read more
